Research

As a cosmologist, I am fascinated by the history of the Universe on the large scales. My main research interest is to understand how much we can learn about the cosmic history and the underlying theory of gravity using gravitational wave observations, as well as its combinations with large-scale structures and other cosmological probes.

I am currently working at the Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation (ICG) of the University of Portsmouth, UK, in the group of Prof. Tessa Baker. I am interested in what both current and future GW data can tell us about cosmology, my current research topics being:

  • Cross-correlations of dark standard sirens and large-scale structures
  • Model-independent tests of the dark energy with standard sirens

I am also affiliated to the ICTP-SAIFR in São Paulo (BR), and I am a member of the Brazilian Unit of the third generation detector Einstein Telescope. By the time of third generation detectors we will accumulate maybe hundreds of thousands of gravitational wave events, some small fraction of which will be accompained by electromagnetic counterparts. This is a very exciting scenario for measuring the current expansion rate of the Universe, measuring properties of the dark energy and testing our standard cosmological model, large goals for which my research has been contributing.
